The founder

Originally from Bordeaux, France, Pierre-Elliot Caswell is a Ph.D. candidate in the Romance Studies department (French) at Cornell University. He holds a B.A. in philosophy from Université Michel de Montaigne – Bordeaux III and an M.A. in French Studies from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities.

His dissertation traces the postcolonial and racial hauntings within French and Francophone spaces, particularly through Republicanism as a national discourse and ideology and nuclearism as a political and material structure. His article “‘A Ghost in the System’: French Nuclear Colonialism and the Haunting of Republicanism” was recently published in French Cultural Studies.
